“Mythbusters” was the fifth highest rated program on Wednesday primetime as of June 2009, according to the Discovery Channel. And while much of the craze could be because of the science and explosions, it might also be the result of the show’s hosts, Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman.
The Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA) recently named Northeastern art and design professor Matt Rich as one of nine artists in the running for the 2010 James and Audrey Foster Prize. Rich and the other finalists were selected in January from a group of more than 70 artists eligible for the Foster prize, which is awarded biennially to Boston-area artists of exceptional promise, according to the ICA website.
“Is it better to live and be a monster, or to die a good man?” Thus asks Leonardo DiCaprio’s character at the conclusion of Martin Scorsese’s “Shutter Island.” It’s an interesting question, considering what the audience knows by then, but unfortunately, the film barely stops short of answering it for you.

Wednesday night’s show at afterHOURS literally started off with a bang when the speakers blew out during the first song. After doing a makeshift sound check at the beginning of the show, he told the audience to raise their left hands as high as they could, raise their index fingers, point them to ceiling and then lower that finger to their wrists.
The first chords of “Indifference,” the first track of Black Marmot’s full-length album “Run Home,” can be deceiving. What at first seems like an upbeat folk tune driven by clean guitars and Linde Clark’s upbeat vocals, soon becomes much more as the noodly sounds of effect-laden leads, energetic backing vocals and energetic rock drums join the mix.
I destroy things frequently. It’s not really on purpose. In fifth grade I used to lose my glasses five times a day. In my first two years of college, I went through at least four Husky cards and goodness knows how many debit cards. I had Bank of America on speed dial and kept a spare ID in my drawer.
