Art+Design gets new dept chair

Russell Pensyl was recently named Art + Design department chair, and formally introduced to students at a town hall meeting Thursday. Pensyl came to Northeastern from Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, where he was director of the Interaction and Entertainment Research Centre, in addition to director and chair of the animation program at Bejing University.

Confirmed: NU's endowment drops by 25 percent since June 2008

After a discrepancy between Northeastern’s reported endowment figures in The Boston Globe and the Boston Business Journal, Senior Vice President for External Affairs Mike Armini confirmed that Northeastern’s endowment decreased between 2008 and 2009 fiscal years.

Political Review student mag goes online

Northeastern University Political Review made its online debut a week ago, providing the Northeastern community with a compilation of essays from students at Northeastern focusing on national and international political issues.  The review will be published quarterly in an online version as well as in print. 1 comment

Midterms are almost over and bags are getting packed. Preparation for 2010 spring break vacation at Northeastern has begun. But while students could choose to fly away to exotic locales. There will be a competitive singing round and a non-competitive round, and registration is still running.

Tuesday, Feb. 16 7:30 a.m. A student found a jacket in of Speare Hall and turned in at lost and found. Northeastern University Division of Public Safety (NUPD) officers found a marijuana blunt in the jacket pocket while looking for ID, which they also found. 9 comments

Men's basketball: Bracket busted, sorrow on Senior Night

For the five seniors on the men’s basketball team, Tuesday night’s 73-62 setback to Hofstra hopes to only be mere smudge on what this team still plans to accomplish this year. The loss on senior night at Matthews Arena dropped the Huskies to 18-11 overall and 13-4 in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA).

Former students create MBTA iPhone app

A host of new iPhone applications  some made possible thanks to Northeastern graduates – are making it easier to access MBTA schedules and arrival times. The influx of apps started in September of 2009, when the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) decided to make all of its tra nsportation data available to the public.

Identity Apparel offers one-of-a-kind design

  The designers at up-and-coming clothing line, Identity Apparel, are putting a new spin on originality by stamping each of their garments with an emblem of identity: their customers' kisses, fingerprints or DNA strands.     After showing the line as a featured designer during a New York Fashion Week event at the Waldorf Astoria hotel, founder and company president Dylan Ferguson said the brand has been quite a hit, garnering particularly rave reviews from the college students in attendance. 3 comments
