Boston Police Department (BPD) officials named a suspect today in the investigation of an alleged armed robbery in a Northeastern residence hall early Thursday morning.

BPD issued an arrest warrant for Akil Washington, 24, of Lincoln on charges of armed robbery in an incident which took place early Thursday morning in Burstein Hall.

Washington met a resident inside Burstein Hall, located at 454 Huntington Ave., at about 11 p.m. "in order to engage in what was believed to be an illegal drug transaction," according to BPDnews.com.

The suspect, later identified as Washington, had been signed in by the student.

Washington then stole a laptop from the room, and the incident was reported to the police. After receiving reports the suspect had fled to a Wentworth Institute of Technology administration building at 550 Parker St., a BPD SWAT team responded to the location at 1:13 a.m., BPD spokeswoman Elaine Driscoll said yesterday.
