Wednesday, Oct. 28
4 p.m.
A staff member in Mugar called the Northeastern University Division of Public Safety (NUPD) to report an iPod and cell phone were stolen from a lab in the building. Staff members earlier encountered an unidentified man wandering around the lab, who gave a fake name when asked who he was looking for. The man was described as a man in his 30s with a salt-and-pepper beard and no front teeth. The labs in the building are usually locked and can only be accessed with a swipe card, but staff members had propped the door open.
Thursday, Oct. 29
1:30 p.m.
A student reported she left her laundry in the second-floor laundry room in International Village the previous night around 6 p.m. and upon returning at 11 p.m., her laundry was missing.
3:15 p.m.
A woman with no university affiliation called NUPD to report her purse was stolen while she was eating lunch at Au Bon Pain in the Marino Center. The woman said she left her purse at the coffee station and it was gone when she returned two minutes later. The purse contained her credit cards, cell phone and a significant amount of expensive jewelry.
5:15 p.m.
A graduate student reported she received several harassing e-mails from her former boyfriend, who has no university affiliation. The woman also filed a complaint against him with the Boston Police Department (BPD) for identity theft after they had broken up. NUPD provided her with safety resources while on campus and will continue working with BPD to stop the harassing e-mails.
Friday, Oct. 30
2:30 a.m.
NUPD received a report of an intoxicated 25-year-old student staggering down the hallway on the eighth floor of International Village. He had also vomited and will be reported to the Office of Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution (OSCCR) for public intoxication.
12 p.m.
BPD contacted NUPD regarding a report filed by a student whose wallet had been stolen Oct. 24. BPD recovered part of the contents of the wallet and returned them to the student.
Saturday, Oct. 31
12:15 a.m.
An officer on Hemenway Street stopped a 20-year-old student walking down the street drinking a can of beer. The student was warned about public drinking and drinking as a minor and will be reported to OSCCR.
12:15 a.m.
A group of students reported that while walking home from a party, their 20-year-old friend ran away from Columbus Avenue. The student was intoxicated and was found lying facedown on the sidewalk in front of the Renaissance Garage. She was taken to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and will be reported to OSCCR.
12:30 a.m.
A group of students called NUPD to report their 18-year-old friend became ill and vomited while walking home on The Fenway. The female had lost her ID and was going to stay with a friend in another residence hall for the night. Officers evaluated her and decided that she did not need medical attention. She will be reported to OSCCR.
12:45 a.m.
A student called NUPD to West Village B to report a 20-year-old female student was severely intoxicated at an off-campus party. The student called a cab to take her home and accompanied her to her residence hall. The female vomited, was taken to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and will be reported to OSCCR.
12:45 a.m.
A Resident Assistant (RA) called NUPD to report a loud party in the building. Officers found several intoxicated people in the apartment at a party hosted by a 21-year-old student. A 19-year-old visitor was taken to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, and another 19-year-old visitor and a 20-year-old female student were evaluated by officers and allowed to go home. All students involved will be reported to OSCCR.
1 a.m.
An officer walking on Gainsborough Street noticed a man walking by him had a gun tucked into the waistband of his pants. The officer took control of the 20-year-old student, removed the gun and unloaded it. After unloading the gun the officer realized that it was a BB gun replica of a standard police firearm. The student said that the BB gun was part of his Halloween costume. He will be reported to OSCCR. The BB gun was confiscated for the rest of the night.
1:45 a.m.
An officer on Columbus Avenue saw several people leaving a private apartment building and noticed that one of the people was wearing leather gloves with six-inch metal spikes sticking out from each knuckle. While talking to the student, the officer realized a male who also left the apartment building was carrying a replica BB gun. Both the gloves and the BB gun were confiscated and both students will be reported to OSCCR.
10:30 a.m.
An NUPD officer on St. Stephen Street saw smoke coming from a window of an apartment at 115 St. Stephen St. and went to investigate. The officer found two 19-year-old female smoking marijuana with a towel under their door and blowing the smoke out the window through a fan. The students turned over a small amount of marijuana and will be reported to OSCCR.
Sunday, Nov. 1
12:10 a.m.
NUPD was called to the lobby of Davenport B where a man was seen picking the lock on a box that holds the building's DVD player and Wii console. Officers found a student in the lobby with the box open. The student used a lock picking set he had ordered on the Internet and says that he wasn’t trying to steal anything but that picking locks is his hobby. Officers confiscated the lock picking set and the student will be reported to OSCCR.
12:15 a.m.
NUPD was called to an apartment at 118 Hemenway St. after reports from neighbors that bottles were being thrown into the alley. After knocking several times, two students answered the door and claimed there were just a few friends there. Officers saw several people leaving through the back door and alley and a large group of people left a bedroom and walked out the front door. The 19-year-old male resident was cooperative with officers while the 22-year-old male resident gave officers a hard time. BPD was dispatched back to the same apartment at 1 a.m. for the 22-year-old student. BPD and NUPD officers found a keg and a fully stocked bar of hard liquor in the apartment and BPD cited the residents for hosting an illegal party. Both students will be reported to OSCCR.
1:30 a.m.
Officers were called to Speare Hall and found an intoxicated 18-year-old female student vomiting in the fourth floor women’s room. She was examined by officers and allowed to stay home. She will be reported to OSCCR.
5 a.m.
NUPD was called to the second floor of West Village C, where a fire extinguisher had been discharged, setting off the building’s smoke alarm and forcing students to evacuate the building. The building was closed for about two hours while the chemicals from the extinguisher were cleaned up. NUPD investigated the incident and upon interviewing a male resident who told NUPD his two non-student male guests had discharged the extinguisher. NUPD contacted both guests, one of who admitted to his involvement in the incident. Both guests were banned from campus and will be summonsed to court for tampering with fire safety equipment. The student who signed them in will be reported to OSCCR.
Monday, Nov. 2
10 p.m.
A 23-year-old student called to report a woman threw a beer in his face at Punter's Pub. The caller told officers the woman is a friend of his former girlfriend and he didn’t want to press criminal charges, but wanted her to be reported to OSCCR. Officers spoke to the woman who said she threw the beer in his face in response to him making inappropriate comments to her. Both students will be reported to OSCCR.

A 21 year old male was found passed out on a staircase in Ruggles station. When NUPD officers found him and tried to wake him, he vomited. An ambulance was called and concluded that the male was well enough to return home. No NU ID, and only a driver's license was shown to the officers, and he will therefore NOT be reported to OSCCR!
