Its funny how people who are not affiliated with the university when detained by the campus police simply try to assault them and run away.

to parent,
Kids drink too much because it is illegal. The fact that underage drinking is such a huge deal causes students to be undereducated about alcohol and their own drinking limits. It's similar to teaching abstinence instead of Sexual Education. If everybody in college was allowed to drink then their wouldn't be so much pressure on the underage kids to try and be like their older classmates and drinking wouldn't be such a big deal and everybody could be more mature about it.

It is interesting that depending on what officer you deal with in the NUPD, you could be asked to change your behavior, asked to remove yourself, or just be arrested. There could be two situations that mirror each other but one could be arrested because of the discretion of a police officer. OSCCR is fine, and the code of conduct is good, but when it comes to using logic to evaluate a relationship and an event, watch out... you could very well become the most unlucky individual in the city of Boston.

the larger question is,why can't student's drink without overdoing it to the extent of vomiting and passing out? I went to Tulane where everyone drank, the legal age was 18 and the city was full of bars. NOBODY got drunk enough that they had to be taken to a hospital

sounds like a great school, RA's peeking in the window.

Question: what does the RA do when he looks in the window and sees a naked person of the opposite sex?

Please, anyone attending Northeastern has agreed to abide by their code of conduct which is clearly spelled out in the student handbook. The penalties are also pretty clearly spelled out and going to OSCCR is part of the deal when you signed on that dotted line agreeing to abide by the code of conduct. Northeastern is a private institution, nobody is forced to attend, if they don't like it they can get their education elsewhere, and I'm pretty sure thats not tyranny.

you get reported to OSCCR regardless of what happens. being reported to OSCCR and being punished by OSCCR are 2 different things. (see: medical amnesty, etc)

A failure to press charges does not equate "no crime committed". The students in each of the offenses are fortunate that they do not need to spend the time and/or money to defend against formal charges. The officer is using discretionary judgement by affording the student the opportunity to correct their behavior without the added hassle and expense. Should any of the involved students disagree, they are free to reside elsewhere. I think you should research what a tryanny is before comparing it to isolated incidents of young adults exhibiting poor judgement.

Why do Northeastern Students accept OSCCR prosecuting them when no crime has been committed? Half of these articles state at the end that no charges were filed againist the student, yet they still must report to OSCCR?Further more, many of these "incident" locations are off-campus, this universal jurisidiction bull that Northeastern claims to posess seriously infringes on an individuals rights; it borders on tyranny. “Tyrants have always some slight shade of virtue; they support the laws before destroying them” Voltaire
