Kappa Sigma canned goods drive held this week
The Kappa Sigma Fraternity is conducting a canned goods donation drive for Rosie's Place, a shelter for poor and homeless women in Boston. Goods will be collected at the Wollastons stores in the Marino Center and West Village, and in the Krentzman Quad from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and tomorrow. Non-perishable and hygiene products will also be accepted at all locations, and monetary donations will also be accepted at the Krentzman Quad. Vigil to be held Friday for sexual assault victim
In response to the alleged gang rape and beating of a 15-year-old girl in California outside her high school homecoming dance Saturday night, a vigil will be held on Friday at 6 p.m., Andra Oshinsky said. The event is sponsored by Northeastern University's Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex, Queer, Questioning, and Straight Alliance (NUBiLAGA), the Feminist Student Organization, Students for Choice and the Campus Center for Violence Against Women. The vigil will begin at 6 p.m. in the Centennial Common and will walk through campus, concluding in Krentzman Quad around 7 p.m.

Comedian Cummings to perform Friday
Comedian Whitney Cummings will perform at Blackman Auditorium Friday night at 7:30 p.m. sponsored by Sigma Sigma Sigma, according to a flyer. Tickets are free and are available at the Ell Hall box office during regular hours.

Boston Currents to perform at Fenway Center
The Mimesis Ensemble will present "Boston Currents," a program of compositions by 10 composers based in or associated with Boston, at the Fenway Center Saturday, according to the campus calendar. The program will include works by Northeastern professors Anthony De Ritis and Ronald Bruce Smith. The performance will start at 8 p.m., and tickets are available in the Ell Hall box office, free for students. For more information, call 617-373-2671.

John Oliver to perfrom at Northeastern
Comedian John Oliver will perform as a kick off event for Homecoming weekend Nov. 12, according to a Facebook group for the event.. Oliver is a writer and correspondent for "The Daily Show" hosted by Jon Stewart. He will be in Blackman Auditorium at 8 p.m., and due to limited tickets students can register online through northeastern.edu/homecoming/events.html.
