Nancy Giles to perform at Blackman Friday night
CBS Sunday Morning contributor, comedian and actress Nancy Giles will perform at Blackman Auditorium Friday at 8 p.m., according to a posting on the myNEU portal. She will perform her signature comedy and discuss honesty, body image and popular culture, among other topics. Tickets are $5 for students; $15 for faculty, staff and alumni; and $20 for the general public.

Cancer awareness event to be held in afterHOURS
Colleges Against Cancer and Pi Kappa Alpha will present Kissing Away Cancer, an event to raise awareness about cervical and testicular cancer, Wednesday from 7 to 10 p.m. at afterHOURS, according to a posting on the myNEU portal. Downbeats, Stereo Flys and Plastic Reverie will perform and there will be an opportunity to create Valentine’s Day cards and enjoy free refreshments as well.

Graphic design expert to speak Tuesday evening
Krzysztof Lenk, international graphic designer, will speak at Raytheon Ampitheatre on Tuesday at 6 p.m. for a free lecture available to the general public, according to a posting on the myNEU portal. Lenk is a former partner and a design director at Dynamic Diagrams, designing for companies such as Microsoft and IBM. He teaches graphic design at the Rhode Island School of Design, specializing in information design and typography.

Open Classroom lecture to be held Wednesday
William Dickens, Economics and Social Policy professor, and Cathy Minehan, partner of Arlington Advisory Partners and former president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston will lecture about fiscal and monetary policy Wednesday, according to an announcement on the myNEU portal. The lecture will begin at 6:30 p.m in West Village F, Room 20. The lecture is part of the university’s Open Classroom Policy Series and is free to the general public. Mardi Gras Celebration to be held in Stetson East
There will be a Mardi Gras Celebration at Levine Marketplace in Stetson East Tuesday, Feb. 24, according to an announcement on the myNEU portal. The event begins at 8:30 p.m. and will have New Orleans-style food, contests and celebrations.
