Last year, the men's hockey team opened its season right at home in Matthews Arena. This season, they'll be opening up about 4,500 miles west of Matthews. The Huskies begin play for the 2008-09 season tomorrow in Anchorage, Alaska as part of the Kendall Hockey Classic hosted by the University of Alaska-Anchorage. (0) comments

The men's soccer team increased its unbeaten streak to six games with a 2-0 win over Colonial Athletic Conference (CAA) rival Hofstra yesterday at Parsons Field. The Huskies now stand at 4-2-4 overall (2-0-1 CAA). They stand alone at the top of the CAA standings ahead of Old Dominion by one point. (0) comments

On Sept. 17, the Northeastern field hockey team was 5-2 following a 7-1 dismantling of Brown at Sweeney Field. Since then, the Huskies have gone 1-4 to fall to 6-6 (0-2 Colonial Athletic Association). This includes a 4-3 loss at Harvard (4-5, 2-1 Ivy League) last night, despite two goals and an assist from senior forward and co-captain Ashley Bascetta. (0) comments

Athletics Director Peter Roby announced another hiring Tuesday, as he added Devin Crosby as an assistant athletics director for development to his department. The hiring comes about a month after Roby had announced seven additional hires to his department. (0) comments

Kristi Kehoe of the women's hockey team had a strong showing against Rensselaer and Union this weekend, adding five goals to her resume, including her first hat trick. Kehoe scored one goal and assisted on a score against Rensselaer on Friday, then scored three goals against Union on Saturday. (0) comments

A new program that encourages and rewards student attendance at athletic events has been introduced to the student body. The program, Ncentives, was put together by the Athletics Department with assistance from the Student Government Association and Student Affairs to increase attendance for university sporting events. Anthony Orio, senior quarterback for the football team, was named a semifinalist for the Vincent dePaul Draddy Trophy last week. The Draddy Trophy is given to the one athlete in the nation who is considered to be the best both athletically and academically. (0) comments

As crazy as it may seem, the 2008-09 hockey season starts tomorrow. Yes, you read that right, tomorrow, and it starts in Alaska. As I look toward this season, I think there is a giant misconception on who the critical players will if this team is going to have a good year. (0) comments

Basketball set to open in 2k Sports Classic to benefit Coaches vs. Cancer The field for the 2kSports Classic benefiting Coaches vs. Cancer was finalized and announced in a release last week by the Gazelle Group.
