Huskies,

You've seen the chalking, the cards and have probably seen me at your door. Now is the time to vote! Voting has been extended until Saturday, so please make sure you don't miss your chance to vote.

The Student Government Association (SGA) president is responsible for ensuring that every student has the ability to speak up about what is important to them. As the current vice president for financial affairs, I have had the opportunity to work throughout the year with student groups and club sports, and have worked to survey students for things like the university budget and the new Renewable Energy Fund. I thought I had a good idea of what the students wanted, but I have realized during the past week how little I really knew.

Going door to door, I have had the opportunity to hear what students care about, and we need to begin taking the initiative to personally reach out to students. After almost a month of campaigning, I am beginning to see why we as advocates have been so unsuccessful: we need to take the time to ask the students what they want.

I know so many in search of this presidency have used personal priorities to fuel their platforms. Many of the biggest issues I hope to address next year have come directly from students I have met throughout the year. If you take a minute to read through my website, www.robranley.com, you will see that many of my objectives are probably things that are important to you. I have the experience within and outside SGA to establish realistic goals; I just need you to help me set them.

So please take a few seconds, visit my site and then log into the myNEU portal to vote for me, Rob Ranley, for your next president. Hopefully we'll be seeing a lot more of each other.

- Rob Ranley is a candidate for the SGA presidency.
