Women's soccer head coach Ed Matz announced that Kristin Slater will join the Husky staff as a goalkeeper coach. Slater comes to Northeastern after two years as a volunteer coach at Tufts University and a playing career with the Women's United Soccer Association Boston Breakers, whom she played for in 2002-03.
She will work with the goalkeepers, especially senior Annie Petrofsky, who was outstanding in goal last season, as her 1.11 goals-against-average ranked third in NU single-season history, while her eight shutouts were a single-season record. Freshman Sarah Fylak, who appeared in one game during the 2006 season, will serve as back-up.
The addition of Slater will mark the first time Pertrofsky has ever had a goalie coach, and Matz believes it could lead to her posting even better numbers this season.
