Women's Track & Field: Northover continues domination at ECAC

Senior thrower Zara Northover won the shot put with a 16.78-meter throw that broke the Northeastern and Eastern Conference Athletic Conference records.

The women's track team traveled to Princeton, N.J., to compete in the 26th annual Eastern Colonial Athletic Conference Championships (ECAC). Senior thrower Zara Northover won the shot put, throwing a distance of 16.78 meters, shattering the previous record for both Northeastern and the ECAC.

Head coach Sherman Hart expressed his pride in Northover, although he remained humble.

"It was a typical Zara performance," he said.

In the 10K run, junior Kristie Gagnon finished 7th with a time of 37:03.57, setting a new personal best and a record for Northeastern. In the 100-meter hurdles, junior Tramaine Shaw placed 10th with a time of 14.18 seconds.

The 4x800 meter team placed 9th with a total time of 9:13.75. The team consisted of seniors Natalee Pennicooke and DaviAnne Brown, sophomore Brittany Moriarty and junior Laura McCloskey.

Next week, the Huskies will travel to Gainesville, Fla., where they will compete in the NCAA East Regional Championship.
